Services and Rates

Initial Phone Consultation

In order to assess if we would be a good fit in working together, we will start with a free 15 minute video or phone call before scheduling our first session. You can schedule this by emailing me (victoria@victoriakleincounseling.com) or following this link.

Intake Session

Intake sessions are the second step to the therapy process - they are centered around gaining deeper understanding of the presenting challenges that you face in order to collaborate on goals for therapy. All intake paperwork will be filled out prior to our first session together.

During our intake process, we will discuss how frequently we would like to meet. I typically recommend more frequent sessions while we are still getting to know each other (once a week), though I am flexible and understanding of varied life circumstances.

Individual Therapy

I’m currently offering telehealth and in-person sessions in Ballard.

Individual therapy is a collaborative process where we work one-on-one together in a confidential and supportive environment. The goal is to be able to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviors and develop strategies to help cope with and better understand the challenges we face in life. My goal is to co-create a non-judgmental, warm and open space to walk alongside you as we explore the parts of you that may feel tender, misunderstood or too difficult to hold on your own.

Insurance

I accept Premera, Lifewise, Regence, and First Choice Health.

If you are a private pay client, you are eligible to receive a “superbill” (an itemized receipt of services) that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

Here's how it works:

Before you start, check your insurance coverage. Ask these key questions:

  1. Does my plan cover out-of-network mental health services?

  2. Do I have a deductible to meet before they start paying?

  3. How many sessions per year does my plan cover?

  4. What percentage of the fee will they reimburse me?

Rates

$250/initial intake session

$200/50 minute session

Payment

Payment is due at time of service. I accept all major credit, debit and HSA/FSA cards. For reimbursement through your insurance carrier, I am able to provide you with a superbill.

Cancellation Policy

Since this time is reserved for you, it becomes your financial responsibility. The same fee is collected for missed or canceled sessions as for attended sessions, unless we have arranged in previous sessions that you will not attend on a particular date.

A 24-hours notice of cancellation is required. If 24- hours notice is not given and I do not have other session time available to reschedule your session in the same week, you will be expected to pay out of pocket for the full session amount.

Specialized Support

Grief Therapy

Grief is a natural and multifaceted response to a loss. Examples of a loss could be:

  • The death of a loved one (a child, parent, partner, friend, pet)

  • Miscarriage, stillbirth, infertility

  • Loss of a relationship, friendship, job, sense of self

  • Physical/Emotional trauma

Grief can elicit a wide range of emotions, including sadness, anger, guilt and confusion. Grief can also manifest physically, mentally and socially, impacting your overall well-being. Grief is not a linear process where you can predict the next step. Everyone expresses their grief differently - there is no right or wrong way to grieve.

Grief counseling (or bereavement counseling depending on the loss) is a specialized form of therapy that is designed to help support individuals who have experienced a significant loss. This therapeutic approach helps individuals navigate the complex emotions and challenges that come with grieving. The goal is to provide a space for expressing emotions, processing the loss, and finding ways to grow around your grief.

In our sessions together, you can expect a warm and supportive environment where you can show up just as you are. Each session is tailored to your specific needs - your grief is not a standalone piece of yourself that needs to be “fixed”. Grief is impacted by all the different aspects of your life, your upbringing and how you function in the world. My hope is to be able to help support you in growing around your grief, developing tools to help you cope and living your life in alignment with your hopes and values.

Parents + Caregivers of Children with a Serious Illness

Caring for a child with a chronic, serious and/or life-limiting illness can be an immensely challenging and emotional experience. As a therapist specializing in grief and loss, I provide dedicated support to parents and caregivers facing these experiences. My goal is to offer a compassionate space where you can express your emotions freely and to allow yourself to be held when you can’t find the strength (after “keeping it together” for everyone else).

I offer therapeutic support informed by my experiences working within pediatric hospitals and the families navigating the complexities of having a child with cancer, chronic illnesses, genetic or metabolic differences and the healthcare system while managing their own mental health needs.

Some common themes we can discuss are:

  • Emotional Strain: Constant worry, fear, emotional exhaustion are all common. Not having access to your usual coping strategies due to being in the hospital frequently can impact emotional well-being.

  • Physical Demands: Providing care often involves intensive physical effort and around-the-clock attention. Certain illnesses that cause children to become more physically dependent on their caregiver can cause significant physical strain due to increased lifting and movement.

  • Financial Stress: Medical expenses, the need for specialized care, traveling for clinical trials, driving to and from appointments, and taking time away from work can lead to significant financial burdens.

  • Family Dynamics: The stress of illness can greatly impact family functioning, relationship dynamics and family patterns. Dynamics with a partner, other children and your community may change.

  • Grief and Uncertainty: Coping with the uncertainty around your child’s disease course and what their future holds adds an additional layer of grief. Anticipating the grief that you will feel about an event that has not yet happened is painful and can either lead you down a spiral or allow you to recognize what is most important.

Healthcare Professionals

I offer therapeutic support to healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, nursing assistants, etc). It can often feel overwhelming to find someone who has an understanding of what it can be like to work in a hospital/clinic/healthcare in general. With my numerous years of working in hospitals, my therapy services are tailored to address the specific needs of healthcare providers, offering support through our individual therapy sessions.

The focus of our sessions can be on building tools to cope while working within an institution that is not built for sustainability, navigate values-based work to figure out what is most important to you, and discuss what initially drove you to pursue a career in healthcare and how you make meaning from your work.

Some common themes that we can discuss are:

  • High Stress Environments: Constant exposure to critical and high-pressure situations can impact how our body functions.

  • Emotional Fatigue: Managing patient suffering, loss and difficult medical decisions.

  • Burnout: Long hours and the emotional toll of the above can lead to physical and mental exhaustion.

  • Work/Life “Balance”: Feeling exhausted when you get home and unable to engage with family/friends when you’re not working?

  • Vicarious Trauma and Compassion Fatigue: Experiencing trauma through the intense and often distressing experiences of your patients, which can lead to a the inability to hold compassion for those who aren’t experiencing something “as intense” as what you have seen
